Solution 1: Update Windows 10

If you haven't updated your Windows to the latest version, you can consider that the Surface pen not writing issue is caused by this.

Windows 10 update can not only install the latest Windows 10 on your computer but also update your device drivers or fix driver issues that may cause problems like Surface pen not working.

To upgrade Windows 10 on your Surface device, you can follow these steps:

Use your finger to swipe in from the right side of the screen to open the Action Center.
Go to All Settings > Update & Security.
Tap the Check for updates button in the middle of the screen.

Solution 2: Check the Surface Pen's Battery

Solution 3: Pair Your Surface Pen to Your Surface

Go to Action Center > All Settings > Device.
Find the Surface pen in the paired devices list and tap Remove device.
Tap the Plus button next to Add Bluetooth or other device.
Tap Bluetooth in the new popup window.
Tap Surface Pen to pair it.
